Intro PouchDB, unroll CouchBase crust and offline data Sync in Ionic with 4-way Data Binding.

Knoldus Blogs

PouchDB was created to help web developers build applications that work as well offline as they do online.

But before going to discuss PouchDB which is inspired by CouchDB so lets remove the confusion of Couch…Series… .

There is CouchDB, CouchIO, CouchOne, Couchbase, Couchbase Server, Couchbase Mobile, Couchbase Lite, CouchApps, BigCouch, Touchbase, Membase, Memcached, MemcacheDB… all different and yet related in way not at all obvious from the names alone.

First there was CouchDB, a database created by Damien Katz, a former IBM developer. Its official name was changed to Apache CouchDB after it became an Apache project.

Today I think most people believe that Couchbase Server is a new version of CouchDB but it is in fact a new version of Membase.

1. The Couchbase Server is not entirely open-source/free software.
2. CouchDB is an open-source/free software.

There are so many other relation between CouchDB and CouchBase, but we…

Domain Driven Design with Scala

Knoldus Blogs

The benefits of DDD have been elucidated multiple times. For us, at Knoldus, we want to make sure that quality of software developed goes a long way. More than 70% of the cost of the software is spent in the maintenance of the software and hence it becomes absolutely essential that a good amount of time is spent in making the right software right. The following slide deck and video was a part of our KnolX session which is held every week on Wednesday. The Knoldus Next series of sessions is an attempt to keep the quality of deliverable’s high by introducing new Knolders to the quality practices at Knoldus and reiterate the values to existing Knolders.

Part One

Part Two

Ok, we cheated a little 😉 It does not contain a lot of Scala but then the values of DDD are domain agnostic. We try hard to do…

Hybrid Mobile App and Ionic Framework

Knoldus Blogs

In this blog we are going to see and analyze what are hybrid mobile applications at root level description and a quick introduction to start with Ionic Framework, why Ionic Framework only and not other like, Steroids, PhoneGap, Ti  and much more… that we’ll analyze soon.

But this is not the restriction of topics because in between we should be aware of Sass (scss), AngularJS and NodeJs etc, nothing to worry, i will provide the topic introduction blog links in between to run faster on track.

~So what you understand by Hybrid Mobile App

Like the websites on the internet, hybrid mobile apps are built with a combination of web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The key difference is that hybrid apps are hosted inside a native application that utilizes a mobile platform’s WebView. (You can think of the WebView as a chromeless browser…

Introduction to Machine Learning with Spark (Clustering)

Knoldus Blogs

In this blog, we will learn how to group similar data objects using K-means clustering offered by Spark Machine Learning Library.

The code example needs only Spark Shell to execute.

What is Clustering

Clustering is like grouping data objects in some random clusters (with no initial class of group defined) on the basis of similarity or the natural closeness to each other. The “closeness” will be clear later in the blog.

Why Clustering

The reason I chose Clustering as beginning of ML that I find it most basic algorithm which requires minimal domain knowledge about your data and produce good analytic over it. Before diving deep into terminologies, lets look at a simple problem which we are going to solve with K means algorithm.

A certain real estate firm wants to build homes targeting different buyers. The only information that firm has collected is the income and the
